AMPEG SS-70 HEAD MODDED + SERVICED

This may be the only modified and fully serviced AMPEG SS70 head in existence (as they only came as combos)
There are TWO versions of the SS70.
The other version is a 210 with two 35w power amps and the same preamp as the SS35 (with a shared EQ)
THIS IS THE EYEHATEGOD VERSION
It has the same preamp as the SS150 made famous by Jimmy Bower and Brian Patton.
IF YOU WANT EYEHATEGOD TONE YOU NEED THIS AMP
70 watts might not seem loud on paper but this amp can get unexpectedly loud enough to seriously upset your neighbors!
(Don‘t Worry it also sounds killer at bedroom/recording volume as well!)
MODS:
•channel switch push/pull pot was swapped for a new pot and toggle switch
•”low pass” toggle switch tames the “solid state sizzle“ when scooping but not enough to muffle the tone. of all the mods I tried, this seemed the most useful and effective. It also removes the weird jump in tone at the end of the rotation in the stock ultramid knob
SERVICE:
•Full recap of electrolytic caps
•deep cleaning of electronics, pots and jacks
•reflowing of solder points (a common cause for failure in the SS/VH series)

HEADSHELL
The headshell was made by a friend (I do still have the combo with original G12K-85 if you want both at an additional $150 +shipping) the condition of the shell is worn but the actual amp is very clean and in perfect working order as is the combo (if you’d like to purchase that as well)
