THOR TUBE PREAMP (RACKMOUNT)
THOR TWO CHANNEL TUBE BARITONE & BASS PREAMP
This was a custom build that I have decided will become a standard design.
Two foot switchable gain & volume controls with a shared “James” EQ of the ODIN and the 6 position switchable LC feedback midrange control of the RAGNAROK and FREYA.
•Channel I has absurd amounts of gain on tap and has a tighter frequency response in the clipping to prevent “bottoming out”
•Channel II has both clean and crunch options.
•Clean is high headroom even with active pickups and crunch goes from edge of breakup to punchy OD.
•The two parallel outputs can be run to both sides of a power amp, to an interface, to a DI or to any combination of the above without loading down the tone stack thanks to the HIGH VOLTAGE FET buffer at the output.
•Pop-muting is implemented using a JFET to drop out the signal for a few milliseconds so the channel switching will not interfere with your playing or recording experience.
•Pop-mute is pre adjusted for the optimal time to prevent popping while minimizing the delay as much as possible.
•The “James” tone stack (which is similar to and often mistaken for a baxandall can also be found in the OR120 and SVT)
•Bass and treble controls each have frequency shift switches.
•The 6 position LC network uses a small transformer to pull out (or leave behind) the exact mid frequency you want and can be bypassed in the 6th clockwise position (watch your volumes at that last click!) this disconnects the feedback network as well as the mid control for ALL THE MIDS.
•Channel switching can be done from the front panel or included foot switch that does not require special cables.
•Channel is indicated by the two lights below the Volume I&II controls.
•Rack is 2U high and 10” deep
•Input voltage is 120vAC by default. Multi voltage transformers are available in the pulldown menu as an upgrade for use in any country.
*Made to order PRE-ORDER and placed in the queue with other preamps and low wattage amps.
