MJOLNIR JFET PREAMP MKII

MJOLNIR JFET MKII PREAMP is a discrete jfet high gain preamp inspired by the preamp of the MJOLNIR amplifier.
Thick, warm, articulate, throaty and brutal.

While FETs will never be tubes, they have their own character and are definitely capable in their own right and the MJOLNIR FET is absolutely brutal for death, doom and heavy rock.

The MJOLNIR JFET can be placed in the return of an FX loop, into a power amplifier or in front of any CLEAN single channel tube amp, effectively making that amp a two channel amp.
It is important that the amp be clean (or at the most lightly broken up) as the tone stack becomes less effective into additional gain stages.

Using a unique BLACKHAWK designed tone stack (based off of the MJOLNIR 100 EQ) complete with midrange Frequency control and switches for low mid boost for a massive range of tones are possible.

A second foot switch adds a built in MORGUL BOOST before the preamp to add more bite and clipping. Trim pots for boost and depth inside

DO NOT TOUCH THE POTS MARKED "BIAS" unless you have a multimeter to rebias with! I spend a long time dialing this in!

This tone stack, rather than scooping out all of the midrange resulting in the thin sound one would associate with placing a tube preamp in front of another, the MJOLNIR brings the brutality.

The updated MKII version includes a built in charge pump (USE 9V POWER ONLY!!)

The new MKII version includes the new "clickless true bypass" (or "soft touch") switch which uses a clickless momentary switch to trigger a relay as opposed to the standard mechanical method.

The MKII also uses a hybrid of SMD resistors/diodes/semiconductors/ICs but with the important parts (audio film caps, rarer discrete transistors and some ICs) still being through hole.

The audio/DC jacks and foot switches will still be handwired, only now they can be done much faster.
This means shorter wait times and the ability to build batch "drops"!
